Season 1

The Earth is under attack by an alien menace known as the Boazanian Forces. A special group of people who have been properly trained to deal with this kind of emergency pilots the Voltes V robot to fight and defend humanity.

Hrothgar demonstrates his capabilities with his impressive inventions and generous demeanor and is soon selected to be the next ruler of Boazania. However, Zambojil, the son of the late emperor, becomes determined to prevent this from happening.

Hrothgar and slave rebels battle the Boazanian soldiers. Before they are captured, the rebels aid Hrothgar's escape with his airship. He pledges to return and rescue the rebels from the empire.

Mary Ann gives Hrothgar a new name, Ned Armstrong. They soon fall in love and have two sons, Steve and Big Bert. Meanwhile, Ned and the Earth's leaders build Camp Big Falcon, the base for the powerful robot Voltes V.

Ned returns to Boazan to fulfill his promise and free the hornless slaves from Emperor Zambojil. In Boazan, Emperor Zambojil tells the young Zardoz about his treacherous father. Zardoz remains loyal to the Empire.

Dr. Smith introduces the five Volt machines to the cadets. As Ned returns to planet Boazan, the Boazan soldiers try to capture him.

Zardoz bids Boazan farewell to invade planet Earth. Steve faces a military officer who thinks that he is arrogant and fires at him.

Zardoz' generals inform him that they could hasten their voyage to Earth and reach Terra Erthu in a month's time. Meanwhile, Mary Ann discovers that Little Jon had gone to the forbidden area.

The Armstrong brothers are now suspicious of their superhuman abilities and will go to any length to discover the truth.
