Alex tries to convince a tavern owner that she likes to put his building up for sale.

Alex tries to keep her blossoming romance with Scott under wraps since her father, Bill, doesn't think very highly of Scott since the tavern deal went sour.

Alex sets out to disprove Bill and Julian's prediction that she will break up with Scott for a very silly reason, as is her track record with past relationships.

Julian becomes irked with Alex's new habit of absentmindedly skipping out on plans with him since she started dating Scott.

Alex's plan to set Molly up with one of Scott's friends backfires when the lines of communication get crossed.

Alex doesn't like celebrating her birthday but she tries to make an effort for Scott. However, her work is going to get in the way.

Alex tries to replace Scott's mattress, but when she finds out the story behind his sofa, Alex's insecurities resurface.

When Alex learns that Bill is trying to be like Scott to land a client, she tries to dish out payback by telling Bill that she and Scott are getting married.

Alex plans to flaunt Scott at her rival cousin's wedding, but her scheme hits a bump when she learns he has Yankee-Red Sox tickets for that day. At Alex's apartment, Molly and Julian vie to use Alex's new luxury shower.

Alex is excited to meet Scott's closest friends until Julian plants the seed that their first impressions of her could ultimately make or break her relationship with Scott. After shocking the friends and Scott with her maniacally competitive behavior, Alex attempts to do what she can to win them over the next night. Meanwhile, Bill tries to manipulate Stephen into turning down a partner position at another firm without making him a counteroffer.

Alex alienates Scott's best friends from Montana with her overly competitive spirit; Stephen is offered a partnership with another law firm, but Bill tries to keep him from leaving.

Alex accidentally gets Scott kicked out of his apartment while he's in Montana visiting friends, and she fears that Scott will move in with her.
