At the dawn of 2001 one story dominates the headlines. Judith Kilshaw has gone from an unknown mother of four looking for any possible way to have another baby to the most hated woman in Britain, accused by the press of winning a bidding war to buy babies online

The adoption scandal dominates the news in both the UK and the US. Two families are fighting fiercely for the twins to live with them. Initially the general public seems to be on the side of Californian couple Vickie and Richard Allen, but as the media spotlight turns on them Vickie’s life is thrown into disarray.

The British courts will determine the fate of the twins and if they stay in the UK or are returned to their hometown in St Louis Missouri. Determined to get her twins out of foster care the birth mother Tranda decides she will enter the fight to get her girls back.
