Monica is downcast because she failed one of her assignments, but Tess tells her to buck up because the cavalry's on the way. After being laid off from his factory job in North Carolina, Russell Greene packed up his wife, two children and mother to head to her home town, Chicory Creek, Kentucky where an old friend, Doc Rogers has promised to give Russell a job.

Monica begins working with child psychiatrist Adam Litowski. He is treating a young girl who claims to hear the voices of angels.

Fed up with the attitude of his students, Mike O'Connor questioned the significance of his twenty-year teaching career.

Monica poses as a journalist to interview Luther Dixon, a teenager on death row. Meanwhile, Tess and Andrew try to help Valerie Dixon prevent Luther's younger brother Samuel from following in his footsteps.

Henry Moskowitz, an archaeologist on a dig at a Navajo excavation site, receives a surprise visit from his grandfather. Still angry that his late parents disapproved of his marriage to a Catholic woman, Henry resists his grandfather's reconciliation efforts.

Scott Walden, the charitable owner of a small aviation company, is arrested by the FBI and charged with an eighteen-year-old murder.

On Halloween, renowned author Leonard Pound is grief stricken regarding his wife's recent death. His son Allan has hired Monica to attend to the widower, who has lost the will to live. To help him, the angel prompts Leonard to revisit a pivotal event in his life: October 30, 1938, the night of Orson Welles radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds.

Tess, Monica, and Andrew are coordinating the wedding of a young couple. The arrival of the bride's estranged father causes her to have second thoughts about the nuptials.

After a near-death experience du to a heart attack, criminal James Block realizes he must change his ways and initiates a campaign of goods works. Neither Tess nor Monica are impressed, however, with his apparent change of heart, especially when they realize he records his good deeds. James finds a kindred spirit in Amy Ann McCoy, a teenage Elvis Presley fan with cystic fibrosis.

Monica, Tess, and Andrew help a down-on-her-luck prostitute who stays drunk more than anything else. While getting cleaned up, she must confront her past which caused her to become a prostitute to begin with. The crossover continues on Promised Land S01E09 Homecoming (II).

Monica and Andrew must help an investigative reporter and the elderly couple with four foster children whose lives were affected by her expose on them alleging child abuse.

Monica must help violin maker Jordan Du Bois finish a violin he started thirty years earlier on the day his son was born. Jordan doesn't realize his son Tony has come home for the holidays with a devastating secret.

Sara Perkins rebels against her over protective mother by hiring Monica as her new photography assistant. Though the angel understands that the woman has covertly taken a freelance assignment to Bosnia, Tess, a volunteer helping Charlotte at the public library, thinks Sara's actions are inconsiderate.

Tess represents a group of former employees in a class-action suit against family-owned Fairchild Tobacco. Her opposing counsel is Marc Hamilton, who has accepted this assignment to the dismay of his mother, Esther. When he was growing up, both she and his late father worked for Fairchild as a maid and a chauffer.

After a near-fatal car collision, Reverend Daniel learns that the accident caused his son's death. Wrapped in a cocoon of guilt, the Reverend shuts himself off from all loved ones, unable to attend the funeral. Monica must convince Daniel to forgive himself and rededicated himself to helping others.

Tess instructs Celeste, a new angel, on her first assignment, Eric, an illusionist. Eric decides to attempt the most dangerous escape of his career. With the help of Monica, Celeste must convince Eric to stop playing hide-and-seek with his life.

Monica is due for her angel evaluation. She runs into Kathleen, a fallen angel who tricks Monica into another meeting room. Andrew and Tess wait for Monica in the right place. The angels recall previous assignments.

Tess revisits the Greenes. She tells them God says Josh needs to go with Tess. Josh has to help Monica see, since she is temporarily blinded. They travel to a city filled with tension. The crossover continues on Promised Land S01E17 Amazing Grace (II).

Meg Salter, a New York pediatrician, decides to surprise her husband by boarding his flight to Paris. On the plane she discovers her husband Brian is accompanied by his eight-months-pregnant mistress Olivia. As the plane heads into a storm, an already tense situation gets worse when Olivia goes into labor.

Hank sees a picture of a missing child on a milk carton and realizes it is his younger brother. Monica helps him find out he was adopted. Tess and Andrew must help the real father and the lawyer who helped place the kidnapped boy.

A small Chicago bar is just the place for big dreams as God gives Monica the task of granting one pub patron a miracle. Monica is surprised to learn that nobody wants this once in a lifetime gift. Greed and envy creates further confusion and rage. A mistaken miracle leads each attendee to reassess their lives and toast to lessons learned.

George is an old army veteran from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, who thinks he has nothing left to live for. He has also been removed from six separate retirement homes. Monica is assigned, as an old woman, to show him the joy of living again.

The angels try to help troubled teens that commit crimes by matching them up to disabled children.

A convicted rapist is released from prison on parole and decides to seek his victim's forgiveness.

The angels are in a small town, where a group home opens their doors to children with Down’s Syndrome. The neighbor across the street finds these children disturbing.

A father is disappointed in his son, Kevin, who parties and squanders money as a way of life. When the father dies, Kevin finds out he is cut out of the will and his inheritance. Kevin must learn to get a job and earn his own money.

A gifted gymnast wants her overbearing mother to focused more on her neglected son, who ends up in a serious situation.
