April tries to impress her boss and gets involved in an office romance. She then receives a unexpected diagnosis, when she finds out she has cancer.

April gets a new assignment at work and reports to a new supervisor, Raquel. Sarah urges Brenna to get an after-school job to learn more about responsibility.

April learns that Dominic has a reputation; Sara introduces her new boyfriend to the family.

April finds the going tough as she attempts to balance everything, including her first bone-marrow biopsy. Leo comes to an assumption about April's motives.

April and Dominic share family secrets with one another when they visit a psychic. George has a official diagnosis for April, whilst Sara feels she is been ignored.

April goes on a joyride with Leo before starting her treatment, and manages to gain insight into his recklessness and the severity of his illness.

April goes to see a fertility doctor before beginning chemotherapy and also seeks advice from her support group about how to reveal her illness to Dominic.

April takes a day off from work to hang out with Beth and people from her support group, and she finds out something surprising about Leo. Brenna goes on a class trip to Miami.

April tries to remain in control of her life, despite having to check herself into chemo. Brenna tries splitting her time between Kieran and Greer.

April's chemo treatments begin to take a toll on her. Dominic realizes how much she has changed when he returns.

As the competition heats up at work, pitting April and Danny against each other for the next big scoop, April starts to wonder if she is willing to sacrifice everything for success in her career. Meanwhile, Sara is faced with having to sort through Thomas’ belongings from his house in Florida, but she uses it as an opportunity to reach out to Natalie, and to George. Natalie and Dominic feel guilty about their secretive relationship, and they resolve to come clean to April.

April is blindsided by bad news but fights to maintain control over her destiny and to stay strong for her family. She also learns that The Post is cleaning house, but despite her determination to keep her job, extenuating circumstances keep her head on the chopping block. Meanwhile, Brenna learns she is a bone marrow match for an anonymous patient.
